Flow Dynamics AS

Over the last decade, Zeta-pdm Ltd and Flow Dynamics AS have co-operated closely on the development of innovative separation technologies. Now, with the acquisition of Flow Dynamics AS in 2009, Zeta-pdm has further enhanced its in-house expertise, enabling the routine application of advanced computational modelling techniques and an extension of its range of proprietary separation systems.

Flow Dynamics AS was founded by Rune Gammelsæter in Risør, Norway, in 1999 and became a leading technology supplier to the oil and gas industry. With a focus on process design, trouble-shooting, optimisation, equipment design, and computational fluid dynamic modelling, the company developed many highly successful compact process internals for gas scrubbing, demisting and three-phase separation systems.

Zeta-pdm Ltd was founded in 2000 and has since grown to become an industry-leading provider of process equipment and services. The company has designed, manufactured and marketed some of the most advanced compact production equipment for use on onshore applications, offshore platforms and Floating Production Units (FPUs).

Case Studies

Upstream Piping

The upstream piping (or isometrics) will always dictate the condition of the flow entering the vessel. Special care should therefore be taken when designing the piping in a gas production system to minimize the risk of maldistribution and avoid the droplet shatter that could reduce the performance of the downstream separation internals. By modelling the isometrics with CFD, maldistribution can be reduced and the size of any droplets entering the separator can be predicted. This is useful for troubleshooting existing vessels and optimising the design of the process internals.
